Good day Everyone.

2014 Webster Competition National Finals Approaching fast. On Monday August 18th, finalists, judges and Transport Canada Inspectors begin arriving in Kitchener-Waterloo for the next competition to determine the Top Amateur Pilot in Canada. Webster Week is very close to being finalized with all the various events to be scheduled, transportation, equipment required for the testing, prizes for the finalists, accommodations confirmed and banquet arrangements.  The balls are in the air and being kept there and the bush fires are being put out as quickly as possible so that at the moment it appears that everything is in coming together for another successful event. Each of our finalists should once again be able to go home with life long memories even for those who do not win the coveted title.  Webster Week is more than just the competition.  There is a BBQ scheduled on the Tuesday afternoon after the briefing and fam flights are over courtesy of our host Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre. A tour is being worked on for that evening of the airport fire hall with the actual competition being run on Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday evening all the finalists will be taking a full fire-fighting course courtesy of Aero-formatech who will have one of their mobile units on site during the week.  On Friday afternoon the finalists are transported to Toronto for a tour of Air Georgian followed by an evening of heavy aircraft simulator flying courtesy of our sponsor Air Canada.  Saturday of course is the banquet.

You Tube World Wide:  We are extremely pleased to announce that a company out of Florida known as Other People's Airplanes (OPA) will be bringing their producer David Allen and a cameraman up to film the entire competition from start to finish.  Webster has approval of the finished product but the coverage will be featured world wide through You Tube.  This is a mutual enterprise between OPA and Webster as they are broadening their business with our assistance and we are getting global exposure.

New Hamilton Watch For Webster Winner:  The Hamilton KHAKI FLIGHT TIMER  is  new multi-functional timepiece developed in close collaboration with Air Zermatt integrates a personalized logbook to record details of up to 20 flights and for each of them 99 landings.  It is now the featured watch for 2014 being presented to Webster winner.  This new watch being donated by Hamilton can be seen in the scrolling feature at the top of the Webster website main page. The runner –up receives a Hamilton KHAKI PILOT 42MM

Sim Instructors Required For CAE: Due to the generosity of our various supporters we are always very pleased to respond when we are asked to assist them.  CAE is in the market to hire some new instructors and approached us with a request to get the word out there if able. We felt that this update which goes out to all our alumni plus others among our supporter group within the aviation community would be an appropriate avenue to use.  For anyone who may be interested or knows of some qualified persons who may be interested in the positions offered, please access the links listed below:

Gerald Haddon as guest speaker.  For only the second time in the past number of years we have had the pleasure of presenting a guest speaker at the Webster Awards Banquet being held in Kitchener on Saturday evening,  Our first speaker was back in 2008 when we had Polly Vacher attend.  Polly is from Great Britain and had flown solo around the world East-West and then again North-South.  This time w are extremely honoured to have Hon. Col. Gerald P.J. Haddon  as our speaker for 2014.  Col. Haddon is the grandson of J.A.D McCurdy, the first pilot to fly a powered aircraft in Canada on February 23, 1909. Col. Haddon is known as an excellent speaker and will be relating interesting segments regarding his grandfather and early aviation.
